The internet is a worldwide network that connects computers and servers together, allowing people to communicate and share information. The World Wide Web is one of the ways we use the internet to access information. It is made up of websites and web pages, which we can view through web browsers such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge (W3C, n.d.).
ARPANET was first connected in 1969, linking computers at different research institutions. It was mainly used by researchers and universities to communicate and share information. Over time, the network continued to grow and new technologies were developed that helped form the modern internet (Leiner et al., 1997).
The World Wide Web is something we use every day to find information and communicate with other people. It was invented by Tim Berners-Lee in 1989 (W3C, n.d.). He was a British computer scientist who worked at CERN (European Organisation for Nuclear Research). While working there, he came up with the idea of creating a system that would make it easier for researchers to share and access information over the internet.
Tim Berners-Lee worked with other developers to create the first web browser and web server. These allowed people to access information and create web pages. The first website went online in 1991 and contained information about the World Wide Web project, including instructions on how to create web pages (The History of the Web, n.d.).
The World Wide Web became more popular during the 1990s. Web browsers such as Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer made it easier for people to use the web. Search engines such as Yahoo! and Google also became popular, making it much easier to find information online (The History of the Web, n.d.).

For this project, I used a few different tools to help me create and style my website. I chose Visual Studio Code as my main code editor because it is free and has lots of useful features for writing HTML and CSS. Features such as syntax highlighting and code completion made it easier to write and organise my code.
I also used W3Schools to look up information about HTML and CSS when I was unsure about something. The examples and tutorials were useful when learning how different elements and styles work.
I used the Prettier extension in Visual Studio Code to help format my code. This made the code easier to read and kept the formatting consistent throughout my files. Overall, these tools made the development process easier and helped me create a website that was properly structured and styled.
